Celebrity host Molly Mesnick from ABC’s The Bachelor will emcee the upcoming Girl Power Hour’s stylish networking event at Neiman Marcus in downtown Bellevue.

Girl Power Hour’s annual makeover and fashion event kicks off at 6:30pm on Thursday, Feb. 16, at Neiman Marcus, located at The Shops at The Bravern. The store will close early for the event.

During the evening, 10 local women will receive hair, makeup, and style makeovers from The N Salon, Neiman Marcus, and Seattle’s top fashion industry professionals. Workshops will help guests tailor their wardrobes to the latest fashion trends. Appetizers, champagne, sweet treats, swag bags, and door prizes will be available.

Tickets for this “Love You: Boost Your Wardrobe, Boost Your Biz” event cost $15 for members and $25 for non-members, or $30 at the door (cash only). Makeover applications are no longer being accepted.

Last year, Chop Shop’s performances sold out, so securing tickets in advance is highly suggested. They are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors. Saturday’s show (2/11) is at 7:30 PM, and Sunday’s show (2/12) is at 3 PM. Purchase your tickets here.

Reading Dance: Experience a behind the scenes look at how contemporary dances are formed. Learn about meaning and imagery behind the choreographer’s unique movement language, and explore how the creative process is developed and refined. This event is FREE on Sunday, Feb. 12th at 1 PM in the Theatre.

Master Classes (2/11 and 2/12) by the Artistic Directors and company members of the participating companies will be held during daytime hours of the festival in the Theater (Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 AM). Please call (206) 799-6004 for schedule and reservations. Blue Martini will host its grand opening at 4pm on Friday, Feb. 10, at The Shops at The Bravern. The event includes live music by Remix and Ashley Red.

The lounge features more than 40 specialty martinis as well as casual dining. Food and drink specials will be offered throughout the grand opening weekend.

Blue Martini is open from 4pm to 2am Monday through Friday, and noon to 2am Saturday and Sunday. Happy hour runs from 4pm to 7pm daily, and each night offers live music.

On Wednesdays, patrons can participate in a raffle drawing for a chance to win a designer handbag or an iPad.

Lot No. 3 – Big Game on the Big Screen
Lot No. 3 We will be featuring a special Super Bowl menu with many of their existing favorites, as well as a few new items including Chili-Cheese Nachos, Spicy Chicken Wings, Spice-Rubbed Spare Ribs, and 2 kinds of Potato Skins! Drink specials will include $2.50 Rainier Tall Boys and $1-off draft beer and well drinks. The Super Bowl Menu will be offered from 2 PM until close and can be viewed here.

520 Bar and Grill to Host Madonna Look-Alike Contest
520 Bar & Grill will celebrate in style during this Super Bowl. They have game day specials, including the largest nachos on the Eastside, Wings to-die-for, $5 Touchdowns, $4 Stella Big Gulps, and the new Bud Lite Platinum, which is a new 6% alcohol beer that is being introduced to the world during the game.

At halftime 520 will host a Madonna look-alike contest, where the 1st place winner will receive a $520 cash prize.

Friday, January 27 marks the public grand opening of the Yogurtland Bellevue. Yogurtland is a popular self-serve frozen yogurt franchise that operates throughout the nation. It replaces Quiznos on Bellevue Way.

The recent expansion at 520 Bar & Grill has opened up the venue for events, such as live music. Performing on Tuesday, January 31st is the duo ‘Lucy & Luke;’ they will play from 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM.

The Year of the Dragon is off to an exciting start in downtown Bellevue.

The public is invited to celebrate Chinese New Year at The Shops at The Bravern this weekend.

Wild Ginger and The Bravern will host a traditional lion dance at 1pm on Saturday, Jan. 21. The festivities welcome the longevity, wealth and prosperity which the Chinese New Year brings and eliminate any negative energy from the past, according to a press statement.

The Bravern will hand out red envelopes — symbolizing good luck — to the first 800 people who visit the concierge from Saturday, Jan. 21, through Monday, Jan. 23. The envelopes include either a discount card from John Howie Steak, David Lawrence, Brooks Brothers Country Club, Holly Zhang Pearl Gallery or Wild Ginger, or a gift card from The Bravern, Vovito Caffè & Gelato or Trophy Cupcakes.

Throughout the 3-day event, guests can visit the concierge to be entered in a drawing to win a $500 gift card to The Bravern.

Tickets for Wintergrass 2012 are available online. Individual ticket prices for adults range between $20 for a day pass and $130 for a weekend pass.

Wintergrass is mostly bluegrass music. However, you will find many other styles of acoustic music including Gypsy jazz, Celtic music, Old-Timey, Swedish polskas and many more types of acoustic string music. The event is open to women ages 21 and up and runs from 7pm to 10pm Thursday, Jan. 19. Tickets cost $15 for members and $25 for non-members. Barrier Mercedes, the event’s sponsor, is located at 11950 Bel-Red Road in Bellevue (right outside downtown).

Girl Power Hour meets at chic venues in Seattle and on the Eastside on the third Thursday of each month. It typically features empowering speakers, non-profit tie-ins, swag bags, door prizes, and cocktails.

Girl Power Hour will also offer a “Love You” makeover event at Neiman Marcus in downtown Bellevue in February.
