Learn about meaning and imagery behind the choreographer’s unique movement language, and explore how the creative process is developed and refined. This event is FREE on Sunday, Feb. 12th at 1 PM in the Theatre.

Schnitzer West also owns the 2 apartment towers at The Bravern, but they are not for sale as a part of this deal. The 2 office towers that Microsoft occupies were sold in 2010 and are not for sale either.

In an interview with King 5, Dan Ivanoff, the Founder of Schnitzer West, admitted that the mixed-use building has been a challenge. Ivanoff states the reason for the sale reload for new potential developments.

Also interesting to note is that Kemper Freeman was approached last week to purchase the property and declined, siting that The Bravern is 8 blocks away from Bellevue Collection and that he had wished it was only 2 blocks away. Here is the entire quote from the interview:

“It’s taken me 67 years to do this,” he says, while looking at a map of his properties. “[They] were trying to do it overnight.” Kemper says he was approached last week to buy the property, but “That’s eight blocks away. I wish that it was two blocks away, that would help both of us. But there is no synergy between the two players.”

Schnitzer West was instrumental in the vision for the entire Bravern project and brought some of the world’s most premium retailers to Downtown Bellevue, such as Neiman Marcus, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and more.

It’s unknown how long it may take to find a buyer, but it’s likely that not much will change for customers before or after the property sells.

The biggest thing missing in this city is live entertainment, and I’m not talking people-watching at the mall or karaoke night! We’re missing plays, musicals, ballets, concerts, and the like. With Tateuchi Center in the works, the breadth of music, dance, theater, and arts will be expanded.

On a recent trip to Seattle for a showing of Teatro Zinzanni, it got me to thinking; this sort of thing needs to be in Bellevue. In fact, the show I saw even made reference to the Eastside city. Some of the featured performers in the show were Diva and The Dixies, in which they referred to as the songstresses from Bellevue. Bellevue is ready for more song and dance!

From cabaret, to circus arts, to dinner shows, the Downtown Bellevue crowd is ready for what’s next. There are many aspiring and professional artists that call Bellevue their home. They are singers, dancers, acrobats, actors, and performers. Even though Bellevue has evolved from a suburb to a city, these artists still cross the bridge for gigs in Seattle. After seeing the spectacle that is Teatro Zinzanni, it really brought to light the fact that Bellevue is ready for what’s next.

- The closest we have to a neighborhood ‘Cheers’ pub, 520 Bar & Grill is my favorite place to watch football. It’s an especially great place to go if you’re a Husky fan; you’ll find more purple at this place than crimson! Plus, if the weather holds out, they even have a flat-screen on their outdoor patio.

- They have a giant screen that drops down over the bar, as well as multiple smaller TV’s on each side of the room. The crowd is usually enthusiastic, and it’s the only place in town to get an ‘Iceberg’ in your beer. I also hear the servers aren’t bad looking.  ;)

- It’s the new kid on the block for football fanatics this season and has turned out to be the place for Seahawks fans. Not only do Seahawks players frequent this Downtown Bellevue hot spot, but Munchbar now hosts The Official Seahawks Aftergame Party on Sundays from 9 PM – 11 PM. With video screens throughout the restaurant, this is the place for football fans to see and be seen.

The City of Bellevue and Sound Transit are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, as the Sound Transit Board of Directors made the decision yesterday in favor of a tunnel for light rail in Downtown Bellevue. The City of Bellevue Council-members have long supported the tunnel option because it minimizes street congestion and maximizes routing efficiency. This decision is a sign of progress and hopefully a foreshadowing of cooperation between the City and Sound Transit on other outstanding items, like the alignment of certain routes.
