Nordstrom is almost 300,000 square feet and Penneys and Macy’s I bet are pretty close to that if not larger.

JC Penney owns its own space and associated parking so it’s leaving would be a JC Penney decision. That said, I dont see it happening with the kind of sales PSF that a Bellevue Square location generate.

If it is an anchor store most likely it will be Bloomingdales. Saks is not in expansion mode right now and is struggling. While Bloomingdales is planning new stores in a smaller format, around 120,000 square feet according to an article this year.

Bloomingdale’s will close the following four stores in early spring 2012: Perimeter Mall, Atlanta, Ga.; Oakbrook Home and Furniture, Oak Brook, Ill.; White Flint, North Bethesda, Md.; Mall of America, Bloomington, Minn.

As previously announced, a new Bloomingdale’s is planned to open in Glendale Galleria in Glendale, CA (120,000 square feet; to open in fall 2013). In addition, an all-new Bloomingdale’s will be built in Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, Calif., to open in spring 2014, subject to completion of a public approval process. The new Stanford Shopping Center store will be built in a smaller format similar to Bloomingdale’s stores opened in recent years in SoHo (New York), Chevy Chase, Md., and Santa Monica, Calif.

The speculation is that it’s either Saks or Bloomindales. Isn’t 119,000sqft a bit too small for either of them? How big are the Nordstrom, Macy’s and JC Penny stores.
