Orexi Greek Restaurant on Bellevue Way Goes Out of Business

Greek restaurant Orexi ,at 31 Bellevue Way NE, is now out of business. The restaurant has had a “For Lease” sign on the outside of it for weeks.
A call into the leasing company communicated that the building has been leased to a new restaurant. At this time there are no details on what the new restaurant will be.

This is such good news if it’s true!! DB has very few vegan options let alone a vegan friendly restaurant. I hope it’s happening in time for summer! Araya’s is really tasty ad affordable.

… so says Araya. I’m on to you, “Excited”.

And no tears were shed for the loss of Orexi. I went there once many years ago – it was pretty decent. Any idea why they shut down?

@EnataiMan: probably due to all the people that only went there once many years ago.
I’m no better though. I’ve passed it dozens of times, and I never tried it (the wife is not a fan of Greek food).

Too bad for Orexi. I enjoyed it. I look forward to a Vegan restaurant too. Hope it is yummy!

My husband & I live right around the corner in Old Main but never went there due to the looks of the place ( we eat out about 5 times a week). They didn’t do much in way of up keep. The building needed cleaning & painting and all around fixing up. This is downtown Bellevue, not Everett. Their awning was filthy and moldy. Not a place I would want to eat at. Its sad though because I hear they had great salads from the in-laws (after I heard they closed).

So bummed they closed.. it was decent Greek food!! Just found out they were closed when I called to let them know we were having a large party come in tonight.. UGH!!! Now my son needs to choose a new place for his bday dinner.. oh well..
I ate there for lunch for years!! They had the best soup and salads and the service was always pleasant!

The restaurant is unique for interior. I had
lunch there several months ago and it was
overpriced and not that good.
The replacement is a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. I
had been to their Seattle (U. Dist.) location
and overall enjoyed it—but not Bellevue.
Attention restaurant owners: STOP spicing up
your food. I am tired of this. Seniors
especially do not appreciate it.

@Kathy: You might not be the target demographic for the new restaurant. If I go to a Thai restaurant, the food better be spicy. That’s pretty much what’s expected from Thai food. Same as you shouldn’t go to an ice cream parlor, then complain that the ice cream isn’t warm enough…
Count me in as someone who hopes that restaurants owners do NOT follow your advice, and keep serving tasty, spicy food. Seniors will always have Denny’s/IHOP/Applebee’s/etc if they want bland.

I agree with you Vincent…the main key of thai food is “the spiceS!!”
Since Araya’s opened in Bellevue, I have gone there at least twice a week.
I love the service there and the food is fantastic!!
I strongly recommend this restaurant to all vegan or not vegan people out there, you will not regret it!!

This was one of our favorite restaurants. But the food was too rich to make it a frequent destination. I think that ethnic restaurants would do really well if they could come up with variations of their dishes that cater to those who are trying to lose weight, deal with various health issues, etc. America is currently having an aging population, and as one gets older, health becomes at least as big a factor as portion size, price, and taste.
