Underground Tunnel at Bellevue Collection Connects
A project was headed months ago to bring an underground tunnel to and from Bellevue Place’s parking lot and Lincoln Square’s parking lot on the 3rd floor parking level.
The project will allow for those not wanting to walk through the street level traffic to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city. Pedestrians will be able to walk to and from Bellevue Place and Lincoln Square soon. The construction of the tunnel has just reached the point where the construction workers have now connected the two sides.
New Kemper Development Co’s projects such as “The Bellevue” and “Shops On 5th” have plans as well to connect underground and have ample parking for visitors to the Bellevue Collection.

Thx for the update on the tunnel, I can’t wait for the Christmas underground parking garage traffic jam!

What is the point of this? Won’t it take longer to go down 3 floors to get to the tunnel, than it would to wait for a crosswalk signal?
And if it’s instead for parking purposes, what is the point exactly?
Seems like an odd project to me.

Also, this project had to be crazy expensive to do. So I’m wondering how this will pay off for Kemper?

the payoff is that people will be able to drive around his garages to find a spot, instead of leaving and going somewhere else…

Well that’s not what the writer of this post alluded to at all.

Kemper sure is all about the car. He’s opposing light rail to the Eastside and is trying to get pedestrians off the street with his skybridges and underground tunnels.

Kemper has secret plans for an “underground” movement to unite an evil Bellevue empire!! No pun intended…come on people.

This is a great business move to have tunnels and skybridges go from building to building.
It keeps the access of people flowing fluidly from the Bellevue Collection.
If a project is worthy…I’m sure Kemper would share the traffic (Skybridge/tunnel) but nothing would really make sense right now.
